Recurly's Mobile Expansion

The Challenge

Recurly faced a critical turning point. As subscription commerce shifted mobile-first, their enterprise customers needed seamless iOS and Android integration to stay competitive. But Recurly's internal engineering team was already at capacity, focused on maintaining and scaling their core billing platform. Building mobile SDKs in-house would mean pulling resources from strategic roadmap work or missing market windows entirely. With competitors moving fast, delay wasn't an option.

The Solution

CH2 deployed a specialized Tiger Team with proven mobile enterprise experience. The team built production-ready subscription management SDKs for both iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin), ensuring feature parity and seamless integration with Recurly's existing infrastructure. Beyond the SDKs, they redesigned the reporting and dashboard interfaces to give end users better subscription visibility and control. The team brought deep expertise across React, Golang, AWS, and UI Design, working in tight coordination with Recurly's product and engineering leadership to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.

The Results

The mobile SDKs launched on schedule, enabling Recurly to capture the mobile market opportunity at a critical inflection point. Dashboard enhancements improved subscription management for thousands of customers, directly impacting retention and user satisfaction. The mobile capabilities opened new revenue streams and strengthened Recurly's competitive position as customers increasingly demanded mobile-native solutions.
